Wright State sweeps twinbill at UIC, tied for first in Horizon League

Wright State rebounded from a 6-1 loss at Illinois-Chicago on Friday to sweep a Saturday doubleheader, 10-3 and 7-1.

The 15-6 Raiders have won 11 of 13. They are tied for first in the Horizon League with UIC at 4-2.

In the twinbill opener, Centerville High School’s Quincy Hamilton guided Wright State with two hits, including a triple, two runs and three RBI. Seth Gray belted a home run and a double to support senior left-hander Zane Collins, who allowed three runs and eight hits over eight innings and improved to 5-1.

Wright State received another deep start in the second game. Freshman right-hander Bradley Brehmer limited the Flames to one run and six hits over six innings. Tristin Haught added three scoreless frames to secure the Raiders victory.

Chase Slone knocked in three runs and Peyton Burdick had three hits and two RBI.

Wright State will return to Nischwitz Stadium against the Xavier Musketeers on Tuesday and then travel to Xavier on Wednesday.
