Wright State smashes Indiana University, 15-4; improves to 20-8

Wright State’s baseball team has recorded an array of impressive victories this season. The Raiders defeated No. 9 East Carolina. No. 10 Ole Miss and No. 19 Oklahoma State. Yet their 15-4 lambasting of former Top 25 ranked Indiana University on Wednesday was extra special because the Hoosiers are coached by Jeff Mercer, who guided Wright State to the NCAA tournament last year.

Tyler Black slugged a home run and added a sacrifice fly, Peyton Burdick added a two-run home run and Seth Gray belted an RBI double as the Raiders pummeled Indiana pitching.

Wright State improved to 20-8 and travel to Northern Kentucky for a three-game weekend series. The Raiders are 6-3 in the Horizon League.

8th Inning – The Raiders exploded four six runs in the visiting half of the eighth inning after the Hoosiers pulled closer in the seventh with a two-run home run. With six outs left to get, the Raiders were firmly in the lead at 13-4.
